A reel on its own is rarely a finished product. The quotes that go wrong are the ones that price the tape and forget the parts that make it installable, so we put the whole bill of materials on the sheet up front.

Wholesale LED Light Strips: The Four Numbers That Decide the Quote
Two reels can look identical in a listing photo and land a year apart in the field. We build wholesale LED light strips ourselves and quote against a written specification, so the comparison stays honest. Before you price anything against a marketplace reel, pin these four numbers down. They move landed cost more than the per-meter figure does.
- LEDs per meter and bin: density sets brightness and decides whether the dot pattern shows through a diffuser.
- CRI and color-temperature tolerance: reels that drift across a production run become a returns problem, not a spec detail.
- IP rating matched to the real install: a kitchen plinth, a chilled display case and an exterior sign are three different jobs.
- Driver headroom and voltage drop: the run length a reel can actually hold before the far end goes dim.

COB or SMD: The Choice That Decides How the Light Looks
It is the first thing we settle when a buyer takes us on as their LED strip supplier, because the answer changes the reel, the channel, the diffuser and the price all at once. Neither format is better in the abstract. They fail in different places.
SMD tape carries individual diodes spaced along the strip. Close up, or behind a shallow diffuser, they read as a row of dots. That is fine where the strip is hidden and only its wash is visible, and it is the only practical route where each segment has to be addressed on its own, which is what makes color-chasing and music-reactive effects possible at all.
COB tape carries the diodes under a continuous phosphor layer, so the output reads as an unbroken line with no visible dots even in a shallow profile or with no diffuser at all. It also bends more kindly along its own axis, which suits curved coves and rounded millwork. The trade-offs: addressable color effects are harder to do well on COB, and the continuous emitting surface makes thermal management and channel choice matter more, not less.
A simple way to route the decision. If the end customer will ever see the light source itself, start from COB. If they will only ever see what the light lands on, or the product is sold on color effects, start from SMD. Certification, Labeling and What Arrives on the Pallet
Compliance on this range is specified by the buyer, not decided by us. You name the standard your destination market and sales channel require, the reels are submitted for testing against that scope, and the report is issued to match how your compliance team files it. Where a channel wants independent inspection before shipment, that is booked as a separate line. Scope and schedule are quoted per project.
Two things are worth locking down at the same time, because they cost almost nothing to get right up front and are expensive to fix afterwards:
- Driver and adapter certification is a separate question from strip certification. A compliant reel with a non-compliant power supply fails the same inspection.
- Labeling travels with the market. Rating plate content, warnings, importer details and recycling marks all differ by destination, and they are printed at the factory when the destination is on the purchase order.
How the goods arrive
Reels are packed with the adhesive liner intact and the cut marks visible through the pack, so a warehouse can verify lengths without unspooling anything. Kits are packed complete, meaning the strip, driver, controller, connectors and any channel or diffuser on that line arrive under one item number rather than as parts your team has to marry up on receipt. Where an order includes aluminum profile, sticks are packed to a fixed cut length so a mixed pallet does not turn up with one long section that will not fit your racking.
