One of the most common questions we get from North American buyers: “Halogen bulbs are being phased out in the U.S. — can you still sell candle warmer lamps there?” It is a fair question, and the answer comes down to what the bulb is actually doing.
The bulb is a heat source, not a light fixture
LUMORA lamps use a GU10-base, MR16-shape, 50W halogen bulb. In a candle warmer, the halogen bulb’s job is to gently melt the wax of a jar candle from above — releasing fragrance without an open flame. The warm glow is a side benefit; the function being sold is wax warming, not illumination.
Where U.S. regulations stand
The 2023 U.S. general service lamp rules target bulbs sold for general illumination. Halogen GU10 bulbs supplied as replacement components for wax warmers are currently not affected by those rules. Accordingly, LUMORA lamps are marketed as candle warmers — never as reading or general lighting products — and our packaging and listings follow that line.
Regulatory positions evolve; this reflects our compliance stance as of June 2026, and we monitor it continuously.
What this means for your inventory
- Every lamp ships with two bulbs in the box
- Replacement bulbs are a standard, hardware-store-compatible spec (GU10 / MR16 / 50W)
- Replacement bulb packs are available through the same supply line as the lamps
